I just had my 5th Friedman added to the collection and now am gonna sell the Phil X Model and the JEL20, the Pink Taco V2 and the Twin Sister are staying. The Smallbox went about a year ago… The JEL20 is a nice sounding grab and go gigging option but I don’t do that anymore. I never used the Lineout and the pull/JEL channel is too much for me or say nothing I couldn’t also get with a boost pedal. As I also own the 2203 Reissue JCM800 the JEL20 therefore feels redundant at the moment for me. I really liked the Phil X at first and the homeymoon lasted for quite some weeks now, but in the end it is too dark for me even with low bass, cranked mids/treble plus presence quite high… It just doesn’t slice and cut as the JCM800 which is unbeatable in that regard. …the variac style switch is something I‘m going to miss feel-wise though - should be integrated in many more amps

Minimal difference between a full maple and a mixed rosewood/maple fingerboard+neck. The full maple still sounds better, fuller and louder.

The Empire + Grace are two of the best modern high gain amps ever made. Brian rules, You rule and all the tones you can get out of this amp and the Grace are so good.

Plug In Baby is a Zvex Fuzz Factory into either a JCM2000 DSL or a Soldano Decatone. Its weird that people are discovering a clean or cleanish Marshall plus a distortion pedal sounds great though. Until channel switching and decent effects loops became common, it was just easier for players to set the amp clean and use pedals for dirtier sounds, also made it easier to borrow an amp and still sound like you.

My friend keep on talking about the 7 and 8 string but they don’t sound right and the way you play sold me on this guitar It has the high and lows just right . I have a Gretsch G5410T tri five electromatic , I’m using a boss Katana 100 watt amp. What’s your thoughts.
